About the Tietz Jewish Mission

We are a 5 Star Deficiency Free Facility

A 200 bed facility located in the Jamaica Hills section of Queens, The Tietz Center was founded in 1971 with the mission of serving Holocaust Survivors. While serving the broader community, the Tietz center is still focused on making Tietz a comfortable destination for the Jewish community.

Visiting students from local schools and Bikur Cholim volunteers are an exuberant presence in our halls. Residents enjoy a broad array of stimulating recreational activities and cultural programs, including Holiday celebrations and Torah study groups. We are a deficiency free and five-star facility.

Our Minyan

Shabbos and Holiday Minyanim are held in our new, beautiful, large synagogue. The Minyanim are augmented and led by students of Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim. Following prayers, a hot Kiddush is provided for the residents and visiting family creating a “Heimishe” environment for our residents. Unique to Margaret Tietz, full High Holiday Services are held in our synagogue.

In our ongoing commitment to serve the Observant Jewish community, the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has established a beautifully furnished Shabbos apartment for those visiting family members who are unable to travel home over Shabbos or Holidays. This fully stocked apartment has all the amenities in place to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. All linens are provided and the kitchen is stocked with varied essentials. The apartment is conveniently located one block away from the facility, allowing family to easily visit their loved ones

Visitors are invited to have their meals in the apartment or join their loved ones for the Shabbos and Holiday meals in the facility.
