About The Tietz Jewish Center

A 200 bed facility located in the Jamaica Hills section of Queens, The Tietz Center was founded in 1971 with the mission of serving Holocaust survivors and has continued in the spirit of its original mission by providing high quality sub-acute and long-term care to the frum community. Deficiency free and five star facility.

Visiting students from local schools and Bikur Cholim volunteers are an exuberant presence in our halls. Residents enjoy a broad array of stimulating recreational activities and cultural programs, including Holiday celebrations and Torah study groups.

A Separate Kitchen Provides Glatt Kosher Cuisine

Quality care begins with quality of life, which is the mission of the Tietz Center. As part of our outreach to the Jewish community, we have installed a separate Glatt Kosher kitchen, under the strict supervision of the Vaad Harabonim of Queens.

Great effort and attention is paid to providing every resident with an enjoyable meal of their request - meeting all personal dietary requirements - while providing a healthy home-like atmosphere. Kosher meals are also available for visiting family members at the Tietz Center

Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva holds not-for-profit status for services for Holocaust services and additional special programs so donations can be made to The Margaret Tietz Initiative.

Visiting students from local schools and Bikur Cholim volunteers are an exuberant presence in our halls, as they bring joy and smiles to our residents.

Residents enjoy a broad array of stimulating recreational activities and cultural programs, including Holiday celebrations, Torah study groups, and Bikur Cholim programs, in addition to art, music, horticulture and pet therapy.

In our ongoing commitment to serve the Observant Jewish community, the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has established a beautifully furnished Shabbos apartment for those visiting family members who are unable to travel home over Shabbos or Holidays. This fully stocked apartment has all the amenities in place to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. All linens are provided and the kitchen is stocked with varied essentials.

Complimentary meals are provided from our Glatt Kosher kitchen, under the supervision of Vaad Harabonim of Queens. Located on-site, just 1 block from the Tietz Center, the close proximity will allow for visits with loved ones to be longer and without worry as to your overnight stay. A Tietz Center employee will accompany your walk "home" in the evening, if so desired. The Shabbos apartment is available by reservation at no charge.

Activities are an integral part of life at the Tietz Center. The Therapeutic Recreation Department orders a wide variety of therapeutic activities designed to provide enjoyment and enhance the residents quality of life while assisting them in maintaining their highest level of function.Our innovative recreation therapists will find just the right activity to spark your interest. "Ask the Rabbi" classes with our on-site Rabbi, Jewish Culture Club (with similar interests) with our Director of Social Service help to add a distinct Jewish "flavor" to our recreational activities.

The Tietz Center established an inpatient hospice program devoted to individuals at the end of life requiring 24 hour nursing care. Along with our many hospice agency partners, we are proud to have established the first dedicated inpatient hospice program, within a nursing home, in the borough of Queens. Spiritual support is provided by our on-site Rabbi, your Rabbi and Director of Social Services.Specially trained Physicians are present daily to address pain and symptom management. This specialty unit staffs highly skilled and compassionate professionals trained specifically in providing quality care associated with end-of-life issues.
